The D-List: 2010 September Week 1

Florida State University - for suing a nearby Manatee County high school in Florida for using the Seminole name and imagery, such as the spear-emblazoned helmet and Indian profile emblem. You might be on the side of FSU if you’re all about trademarking, but this is particularly d-casey as Southeast High School has used the name for 51 years and has been a hotbed for FSU players over the years. Additionally, former FSU wide receiver Peter Warrick is now an assistant football coach at Southeast High and is set to be inducted into the FSU athletic hall of fame.

Julious Javone Threatts - Already on probation for burglary charges, 21 year old Julious had been posing as a 14 year old boy so he could play peewee football. Julious Threatts had been operating under the name Chad Jordan, “but there just was a lot of stuff that wasn't adding up, you know?" said Ray McCloud coach of the peewee team. Coach McCloud thought it was odd that he always kept his helmet on, as if he were hiding. He found it odd that he was being raised by his older brother, whom McCloud never saw. Most of all McCloud that it was odd that Threatts had a big tattoo across his left forearm that read “JULIOUS”. After McCloud did some digging he found Threatts’ Facebook page which listed his mother (who is alive and not dead as Threatts expressed) and stated that Threatts was a graduate of Leto High School. Threatts even went as far as trying to attend the middle school area to keep up his façade…this quickly fell through and he was arrested. He now faces charges of trespassing on school grounds, obstruction by a disguised person and violation of probation.

Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan's son - Michael Jordan was recently in Las Vegas hosting a fantasy camp. His two sons were in Sin City with him, most notably his oldest son who recently tweeted that he dropped 35 grand at the night club the night before plus an additional 15 grand the previous day. This is a problem because he is 19 years old and everyone knows it. Now the Nevada gaming commission is investigating the issue. I can’t say that I wouldn’t do the same thing if I was Michael Jordan’s son, but this still makes him a d-case (not that he cares).

James J. Lee - For holding the Discovery building hostage for not doing enough to save the environment. He was also upset that the channel seemed to encourage human birth rather than population control. He demanded that "All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it." On a slightly ironic note, thanks to Lee there is now one less parasitic human on the Earth.

Dr. Dan Duffy - Dan is a chiropractor in Iowa. Well, he was a chiropractor in Iowa. During one session with a young lady he left the room in the middle of the session. When he returned he stood where the young woman could not see him, and she reportedly told police she heard him doing something in particular. Later, DNA swabs from her lower back matched that of Dr. Duffy. While chiropractors take a lot of heat for what some consider a “quack” profession, I have seen no scientific evidence that “DNA” is an acceptable treatment for lower back pain.

D-Case for the Month of August: Francisco Rodriguez

The closer for the Mets got into a fight (in which punches were thrown) with his father-in-law in the tunnel to the clubhouse after a game recently. As one of the articles lists the consequences of the fight:
1. Rodriguez experiences the indignity of literally fighting with family in front of, figuratively, the whole world.
2. The Mets suspend him.
3. He's arrested on a charge of third-degree assault and put into Mets Jail at Citi Field.
4. Doctors find a torn ligament in his thumb, which requires surgery that ends his season.
5. He faces the prospect of losing millions of dollars if the Mets void his contract.

The D-List for the Month of August

Albert Haynesworth - for extending his stay on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list to start Redskins’ training camp due to his inability to pass his conditioning test. Certainly d-case behavior having all off-season to improve his physical condition, and instead he comes in worse than before. Haynesworth couldn’t pass the test last Thursday, then on Friday took an extended bathroom break in the middle of testing so he could catch his breath, took Saturday and Sunday off, had to stop in the middle of testing yesterday, and has withdrawn from trying to test today. On top of that, Mike Golic of Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio took the same (or at least similar) conditioning test and was able to pass it despite being out of the league for 16 years.

Les Miles, LSU Football Coach - For deliberating over-signing (signing more recruits than he had scholarships available to give) his 2009 recruiting class. And for waiting until August to finally get around to telling OL recruit Elliott Porter that there wouldn't be a scholarship for him this year. As Porter tells the story: "I got called to coach Miles' office. I had no idea it was coming," Porter said of his being asked by LSU to 'grayshirt' this season and re-enroll next year. "He just told me that they didn't have room for me. I moved out of my dorm today and I am now back home trying to figure everything out. It's been a rough 24 hours."
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/LSU-s-ship-has-two-men-too-many-so-Elliott-Port?urn=ncaaf-260264

Portland Oregon Health Inspectors - for shutting down a little girl's lemonade stand because she didn't have a restaurant license. When your job is reduced to intimidating children, you're officially a d-case.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38592078/ns/us_news-life/?GT1=43001

Kevin Gilman - for stealing a ladder, going to jail after being identified by the victim, getting released from jail, and then going back to jail for trying to sell the same ladder to the same victim. It takes a special kind of person to be this stupid.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38648232/ns/local_news-portland_or/

Francisco Rodriguez - The closer for the Mets got into a fight (in which punches were thrown) with his father-in-law in the tunnel to the clubhouse after a game recently. Udonis Haslem - for being cited for illegal car tint and unlawful speed which led to his arrest for possession of marijuana. Apparently the way to celebrate signing a new deal and riding the coattails of the newly formed, overwhelming favorite in the Eastern conference, is to spend a Sunday afternoon cruising around with one of your cronies and a fresh bag of South Beach doobage…oh and apparently the best way to take in this NBA past time is by attracting attention from the local authorities by speeding around in an illegally tinted car.

Dorothy “Dot” Davidson, mayoral candidate in Bessemer, Alabama - for running for mayor in the town of Bessemer, Alabama and falsely using an endorsement from University of Alabama’s head football coach Nick Saban. For those of you who might be unaware football in Alabama is sacred, which makes Nick Saban, head coach of the defending national champion Crimson Tide, their own personal Jesus. Davidson’s camp sent out flyers emblazoned with a photo of Saban and Davidson and the words: “Nick Saban fully supports Dorothy 'Dot' Davidson, and thinks she would be an excellent mayor for the City of Bessemer.” Well turns out the image was actually a photoshopped picture of Saban and his wife during a golf outing and Saban had never endorsed Davidson in any way. Photoshopping any image is a bold maneuver (see: BP, D-Case for the 3rd Week of July) all by itself, doctoring an image to put yourself in place of a local icon’s wife is something else entirely…its’ entirely D-Case.

Jeffrey Loria & Miami-Dade County Officials - For the absurd sleaziness of Loria and the pure idiocy of the Miami-Dad County officials displayed in the new stadium deal for the Florida Marlins. Loria is the owner of the Florida Marlins, and has been claiming for years that the Marlins lose money and can't pay for a new stadium and needed the taxpayers to foot the bill for him. Well, as detailed by the article linked below, some of the Marlins' financial documents were leaked and have been published by Deadspin. As the article says, "The team fought to conceal the $48.9 million in profits over the last two years because the revelation would have prompted county commissioners to insist the team provide more funding." As for the D-case-ness of the Miami-Dade County officials, not only did they allow Loria to get away with footing the taxpayers with the bill while raking in large profits, but here's one of the loans they've agreed to as part of financing the new stadium:
"According to the Miami Herald, J.P. Morgan gave a $91 million note – $80 million of which will go toward construction – that from 2041-47 will cost $118 million per year. In all, the county will spend $1.2 billion to pay off $91 million."http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aoj0jfvDv2cQIVjfnh3sKGARvLYF?slug=jp-marlinsfinancials082410

The D-Case of the Week German Engineering Video of the Week

The D-List: 2010 August Week 4

LeGarrette Blount - for doing the same thing he did in college that got him into trouble, punch another football player. Blount was picked up as a free agent signee by the Tennessee Titans and the Titans front office believed Blount had learned his lesson from his trials and tribulations as collegiate athlete. An altercation during a goal line drill against defensive end Eric Bakhtiari might suggest otherwise. After getting his helmet knocked off for the second play in a row, Blount retaliated with a punch to the face of Bakhtiari. Perhaps proof of once a D-Case always a D-Case.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/439233-legarrette-blount-punches-again-has-he-learned-his-lesson

Antonio Cromartie - for stumbling through the rundown of all of the children he has fathered over the years during an interview as part of HBO’s series “Hard Knocks” which is following the pre-season camp of the New York Jets this year. According to the article: we discover that Cromartie has been making babies at the rate of the Cosby family. Faster, even. Cromartie has eight kids under the age of five….2007 was a busy year for Mr. Cromartie. He had 10 interceptions and four conceptions. The YouTube video is best for capturing the moment. Certainly don’t want to disparage Cromartie for being a father and provider to all those kids…but his lack of confidence in delivering the names of all his offspring is somewhat of a cause for concern.

Sammy Sosa - for asking the Cubs to retire his #21 jersey and accusing the Cubs of making him out to be a monster. Typically retired jerseys are reserved for those who have made the hall of fame and aren’t surrounded in controversy…perhaps they’ll ask Sammy back to retire his jersey on corked bat night. The Cubs are clearly trying to distant themselves from Sosa after the fallout that included a corked bat, steroid allegations, and Sosa heading to the clubhouse before a game had ended…If Sosa can’t read the writing on the wall, perhaps they should try writing it in Spanish.

Tyler Thomas, (former) freshman football player for Oregon State - for getting inebriated to the point where he broke into a local residence completely in the buff, which resulted in charges of first degree criminal trespass, second degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and dismissal from the football team. According to police reports the woman who owned the residence called police to tell them someone had broken into her house. When the police arrived they ordered Thomas to get down on the ground, Thomas responded by getting down in a three point stance and then charging the cops who then tased him. While definitely d-case material…you have to at least admire Thomas’s dedication to the fundamentals of football while under duress.

Jeffrey Loria & Miami-Dade County Officials - For the absurd sleaziness of Loria and the pure idiocy of the Miami-Dad County officials displayed in the new stadium deal for the Florida Marlins. The D-List: 2010 August Week 2

Brian Cushing – for blaming his positive performance enhancing drug test (specifically hCG -Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) last season on over-training. In an interview last week Cushing told Sports Illustrated’s Peter King that his positive PED test was a result of “Overtrained Athlete Syndrome.” The drug hCG is a fertility drug used to re-start regular testosterone production after steroid use.

Bo “the Bailer”, Houston Astros fan – for bailing on this foul ball at the last second, allowing the ball to hit his girlfriend. The Fox Sports crew interviewed Bo, and he dodged every attempted question similar to the way he dodged the ball. Bo claimed that he lost the low line drive in the stadium lights.

David File, lawn bowler in New Zealand – for exposing himself as a means to fire up his team in light of their poor performance at a recent lawn bowling tournament. File, widely recognized as one of New Zealand’s premier lawn bowlers, wanted to convey to his team that they were playing like “dicks” and the only way of doing this was to “flop out my old fella”, as File so eloquently put it. File has received a 10 year ban from the sport as a result. Apparently the conventions of lawn bowling had held down this bad boy long enough and he felt the only way to break out, was to pull it out.

The D-List: 2010 August Week 1

Ozzie Guillen - In another rant, Ozzie this time attacks Japanese baseball players, MLB for targeting Latino players to use PED’s, and racism towards drafting Latino players versus American players. He claims that Japanese players who come over are good, but they are privileged because they have translators who make more than minor league players and they aren’t as hungry as Latino players. He also claims he is the only one in MLB who is trying to educate Latinos to not use PED’s. He is on pace to be up for a D-Case lifetime achievement award since it looks like he won’t be fired yet as somehow the White Sox have mustered up a respectable season as the much more talented Cubs disappoint yet again (can you tell I’m a little bitter?).
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AhyPF4Nbc98ilzn7rBJkcD45nYcB?slug=ap-whitesox-guillenrant

ESPN - for covering up a story about LeBron James that they were responsible for in the first place. Shortly after LeBron’s 1 hour TV special, The Decision, aired on ESPN, LeBron spent a weekend in Las Vegas hosting parties for a six figure fee. ESPN sent their own Arash Markazi to tag along with LeBron’s entourage and write a story about the weekend. Shortly after the story was published on ESPN.com it was taken down as it painted LeBron in a not so positive light. It’s fairly obvious that LeBron and ESPN are in bed together, this just solidifies this. Definitely need to read the whole story:

Grant Balfour and Pitching Coach - Balfour has injured himself to the point of needing a 4-6 week stint on the DL because he got hurt wrestling with his pitching coach. Freak accidents do happen, yes, but it seems D-case-ish to me that he was wrestling with the pitching coach, who's like a 50 year old guy.

Marilyn Garcia, from USA Today - for asking Joe Paterno at Big 10 Media Days “I followed your career for a long time. And I'm thinking you're going to be Penn State's coach until the day you die. What do you think about that?” Garcia then went on to ask about Joe-Pa’ health problems asking “That was intestinal issues, is that right?...You had intestinal issues this past spring?” To which Paterno replied: “it was a little bit below the intestine.” Sure we understand the point that Garcia was getting at, Paterno is old, but I don’t think that using the phrase “until the day you die” nor asking questions about intestinal issues (or issues south of the border as it turns out) were really necessary.

Mike Hart, Professional Angler - for illegally adding weight to his fish at the recent WON U.S. Open bass fishing tournament; as a result Hart has been banned for life from all WON (Western Outdoor News) tournaments. Hart “salted” his bass by placing torpedo sinkers rigged with a hook in the belly of the fish. Officials grew suspicious when Hart was the only angler with only 3 fish that was still in the running for the money. I know that performance enhancing substances have tainted much of the American sporting landscape, but I never thought it would come to this…shame on you Mike Hart.

It's been a rough 24 hours."http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/LSU-s-ship-has-two-men-too-many-so-Elliott-Port?urn=ncaaf-260264

The D-List for the Month of July

Kasey, Contestant on The Bachelorette - Kasey was one of 25 dudes vying for the heart of this season’s Bachelorette, he earned a “one on one” date with her in New York City and that’s when things got really D-Kasey…from an impromptu love song, twice, to horrible love analogies, to getting a tattoo representing his journey to find the Bachelorette; this dude has got D-Case written all over him (kind of literally).

JaMarcus Russell - just as he was starting to receive interest from another NFL team (the Jets) following his dismissal from the Raiders, JaMarcus Russell has to go and be…well, JaMarcus Russell. Russell was arrested in his Alabama home following the completion of an undercover investigation into the former quarterback’s involvement in illegally obtaining codeine. Codeine is a prescription drug that has become more prevalent in recent years as a drug used to get “high.” Russell has been using the codeine to concoct a special “Purple Drank”, aka “Lean”, aka “Sizzurp” (see rap group Three 6 Mafia’s song Sippin’ On Some Syrup, where syrup is pronounced “sizzurp” in the song).

The Stimulus Package - for its promise of 3.5 million jobs created or saved in 2010. At a cost of $862 billion dollars, that's roughly $246,000 per job. Now I may not make as much as everyone else, but that's enough to create or save my job for about 5 years.
http://www.ketv.com/money/24252188/detail.html

Rod Blagojevich - for doing anything and everything to avoid discussing complex issues with his staff; including ducking into a back room, leaving work early, or even hiding in the bathroom.

BP - With the debacle of one of the worst oil spills ever, you would think that BP would want to avoid anymore bad publicity. Apparently the BP press team does not see it quite this way. BP has now confessed to Photoshopping some of its oil spill press photos. Seriously guys, Photoshopping images? And doing such a poor job at it that it is obvious that the images are altered? Who thought that this was a good idea?

Russian Parasailing Company - for forcing a donkey to parasail off the coast of a South Russian beach amidst a crowd of people which included children who were brought to tears over the cruelty of the incident…all in the name of a poorly planned advertisement stunt. The donkey was kept in the air for 30 minutes and then fell into the water where it struggled to stay afloat for 10 minutes.

John Kerry - For trying to use a tax loophole to avoid almost $500000 in taxes for his new $7 million yacht. After voting numerous times to increase taxes while in Congress, apparently Kerry thought that it would be in his best interest to avoid paying them himself.

Dwayne Davis, Jr. - this week in St. Petersburg, Florida 23 year old Dwayne Davis Jr. accidentally turned himself in. Davis noticed himself pictured on the local news and called the cops to ask why. The Choice Food Store surveillance video captured Davis on June 12 pulling a man out of his car and then pistol whipping him. Bay News 9 just ran a story on unsolved cases showing surveillance pictures, which prompted Davis’s phone call to the cops. Despite identifying himself in the video, and being identified by the victim and the cops, Davis denies any involvement in the carjacking.

The D-List: 2010 July Week 4

Michael Vick - now for facing charges b/c he made unauthorized and illegal gifts to friends and family just months before declaring bankruptcy. Apparently Vick wrote and cashed a total of 67 checks made out to “Cash”. According to court records the total cash he collected from his 31 accounts at this time was $751,756. The largest of these checks made out to “Cash” was for $87,726.48 and was cashed on the eve of the first raid on Vick’s kennel.

The Cincinnati Bengals - For signing Terrel Owens. This might not be a terrible signing if the Bengals didn't already have Chad Ochocinco or if they didn't have a rash of recent troubles with the law/team character and chemistry issues or if T.O. wasn't 36 or if T.O.'s receptions, receiving yards, and TDs hadn't decline for 3 years in a row, but since all of those are true, the Bengals are d-cases for making this signing (unless their goal is purely to get attention and market the team as a reality show instead of actually trying to win football games).

D-Case of the Week - July Wk3: BP

With the debacle of one of the worst oil spills ever, you would think that BP would want to avoid anymore bad publicity. Apparently the BP press team does not see it quite this way. BP has now confessed to Photoshopping some of its oil spill press photos. Seriously guys, Photoshopping images? And doing such a poor job at it that it is obvious that the images are altered? The D-List: 2010 July Week 3

AJ Burnett - After leaving a game in the top of the third inning against the Tampa Bay Rays, Burnett told trainer Steve Donohoe that he cut his hands bracing himself after falling down the dugout stairs at Yankee Stadium. However, a couple of days later he addmitted how he really hurt himself: Clearly frustrated after allowing three runs over the first two innings of his start this afternoon, Burnett went into the clubhouse and pushed a pair of plexiglass lineup holders on the wooden double doors leading into the showers with great force, causing both of his palms to be cut. So he's a D-Case for the way he got injured and for lying about it with another lame way of getting injured.

Man Smuggling Monkeys into Mexico Airport - A man was stopped by airport security because of a mysterious bulge in his tshirt. When asked what he was hiding he tried to deny having anything under his shirt. When security strip searched him they found 18 monkeys, 2 of which had died.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/20/man-caught-smuggling-monk_n_652326.html

Fox News - Reports have surfaced about the Taliban training monkeys to shoot American soldiers. While I can neither confirm nor deny the legitimacy of this story, I can confirm the ridiculousness of the last 30 seconds of this clip where on Fox & Friends a photoshopped picture of a monkey holding a handgun is displayed to let the American public know what one of these monkeys might just look like.
http://www.foxnews.com/search-results/m/32572626/fox-news-flash-7-13.htm

Nick Saben - For the pot calling the kettle black. He called NFL agents pimps when we all know coaches are the real pimps.

Russian Parasailing Company - for forcing a donkey to parasail off the coast of a South Russian beach amidst a crowd of people which included children who were brought to tears over the cruelty of the incident…all in the name of a poorly planned advertisement stunt. Good Day New York (on Fox) - for this god awful interview with Thierry Henry following his signing with the New York Red Bulls’ MLS soccer team. The interview began with an I’m Ron Burgundy? type moment as the male co-host clumsily asked/stated/clarified with Thierry that he was in fact playing for the New York Red Bulls and that they were in fact New York’s soccer team (“You have just, uh, joined the New York Red Bulls, correct?…Congratulations…that’s our soccer team here?”). Things quickly got worse as the female co-host asked about just winning the World Cup, when in fact France had actually fallen apart like a soccer superpower never had before (see: D-Case of the Month of June Recipient: France Football). Then to wrap things up the co-hosts awkwardly introduced Thierry to the “Bronx Cheer” (which is booing) and wished him good luck on the upcoming season which is actually already well under way.

The D-List: 2010 July Week 2

Dan Gilbert, Cleveland Cavaliers’ Owner - for writing a letter in the wake of the LeBron decision that completely blasted LeBron for heading to the Miami Heat and then ”personally guaranteed” that the Cavs will win an NBA title before the “self-titled former ‘King’ wins one.”
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Cavs-owner-Cleveland-fans-don-t-deserve-this-c?urn=nba,254750

Reverend Jesse Jackson - for ripping Cavaliers’ owner Dan Gilbert for having a “slave master mentality” following LeBron’s departure to the Miami Heat.
http://www.sportsgrid.com/media/jesse-jackson-dan-gilbert-slave-master/

Prince - The artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince has declared that “the internet is dead.” Prince’s declaration comes in conjunction with the release of his album entitled “20Ten” in which no downloads for the album will be made commercially available.
http://www.filmyfair.com/celebrities/singer-prince-declares-the-internet-is-dead/

The Miami Heat - for their WWF/Vegas-style introduction of the new Heat threesome following signing all three free agents: LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.
http://www.youtube.com/#/watch?v=FKAbwk361bM

Full on Double Rainbow Guy -This video is all over the internet, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you will. This guy is going to be the poster child for faux hippies, who are all d-cases. Don’t get me wrong, I love nature, but only someone with a severe lack of basic 7th grade science aptitude would question the meaning of a “full on double rainbow”, let alone a possible “triple rainbow”. Also, who takes a 3 minute video of a static natural occurrence. It takes ten seconds to film a rainbow (and even that is pushing it), and apparently 2 minutes more to document your shrooms induced emotional breakdown. Nature is great. Rainbows are great. People that think they need to start crying because they can see both ends of a rainbow are borderline d-cases. Those that document the experience and post it on Youtube ARE D-CASES.

Chad Ochocinco formerly known as Johnson - Besides the obvious D-Case move in the name change, Senor Ochocinco has recently had a reality dating show called “The Ultimate Catch”. I happened to catch about 5 minutes of this show and it was even worse then it sounds.
http://www.vh1.com/shows/ochocinco_the_ultimate_catch/series.jhtml

The Stimulus Package - for its promise of 3.5 million jobs created or saved in 2010. At a cost of $862 billion dollars, that's roughly $246,000 per job. Now I may not make as much as everyone else, but that's enough to create or save my job for about 5 years.

Al Davis - for praising George Steinbrenner in such a backhanded way that only a crazed, senile, Raider owner can following the passing of the Yankee owner. "I judge sports figures based on individual achievement, team achievement and contributions to the game. George was right up there with me at No. 1...”

The D-List: 2010 July Week 1

LeBron James - He has been dragging on a decision on where he will play forever now and in a truly egotistical way that only LeBron could do….he’s having an hour long interview on ESPN to reveal it tonight. He is either going to completely turn his back on his home town team on national TV or show every other team who has courted him that it was just to feed his ego and make him more “popular”.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebrondecision070710

Russian spy ring - Come on guys, its freaking 2010 and we have Russian spy rings? You guys are all d-cases, especially the hot red head. It takes a special eye to appreciate red heads already, you guys don’t need “likely Russian spy” tacked onto “ginger”. While we got a lot of great movies based on cold war era patriotism (Rocky IV, spies like us, miracle, practically every james bond) we don’t need to be worrying about Russian spy rings when there are perfectly good muslims to facilitate paranoid profiling. After living in the U.S. for as long as you did, you still wanted to jeopardize being here for RUSSIA?!?! Have you seen a 3D movie? Have you had an Auntie Em’s hotdog wrapped in a soft pretzel? What are you guys thinking. By the way congrats on your country’s performance in the World Cup. BaZinga.

Reporter at British Open - unfortunately I can’t find the audio for this, but at the press conference leading up to the British Open an Irish reporter stumbles through a question to Tiger Woods in which he states all of the drama and disaster and family turmoil that has resulted from Tiger’s actions, simply to ask Tiger if it was “worth it”.

The D-List for the Month of June

Diego Maradona - For his absurd World Cup hotel demands. Including having the bathroom completely redone to include the World's best toilet and other vital features. Additionally, he ran over a reporters foot with his car and had the audacity to blame the reporter: In a video report on the Daily Telegraph, other reporters can he heard yelling at Maradona to stop. Maradona responded by calling the injured cameraman an "a--hole." "How can you put your leg there where it can get run over, man?" Maradona demanded. He then continued on to the press conference where he announced his final 23-man roster for South Africa.

Jerome Menyweather - Jerome was at a party and the police arrived. He then fled the scene. One of the officers involved in the chase noticed that the man was hiding something in his arms that he was carrying. When they finally caught the man about 200 feet later, he no longer had the package in his possession. After further investigation, it was determined that the man was carrying an infant and then “placed” the infant in the bushes to hide it and ran. WOW
http://journalstar.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_8e845f50-6db2-11df-922d-001cc4c002e0.html

Gary Coleman’s Ex Wife - Well she is at it again. She hired a professional photographer to take photos of Coleman as he was dying. Three of the 4 photos have been sold, with the fourth one, a photo of Coleman after he has passed, has reportedly not been sold just yet.

Jeremiah Masoli - He was caught with marijuana while being cited for driving infractions. This is while he's on probation from the football team for being involved in a few months ago. As a result of this latest run-in with the law, he's been officially kicked off the Oregon football team. What a dumbass.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=txoregonmasoli

Dodgers owners Frank and Jamie McCourt - It's really hard to summarize this insanity, you really need to read the whole articles....they're rather hilarious. Here's a quick summary though: "According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, the McCourts paid Vladimir Shpunt several hundred thousand dollars over five years to apply his "V energy" and help the Dodgers to victory. Between 2004, the first season under the McCourts' ownership, and 2009, Shpunt was retained for Dodgers matches, despite the fact that he knew little about baseball. He would channel positive vibes towards the players as he sat in Boston, some 3,000 miles from LA. By watching the game on television, he could get instant feedback on how his energy was affecting performance."

Vuvuzelas - the incessant and annoying unofficial noise maker of soccer. For those of you unfamiliar, just watch a minute of any world cup game or go to vuvuzela.fm
http://www.vuvuzela.fm/

France National Football Team / France - I’m not sure who is to blame and/or who is the biggest d-bag in all of this, but it sure is fun to watch…the expulsion of a player, arguments, refusal to practice, resignations, failure to advance from pool play, and now the trickle down all the way to French society.

Koman Coulibaly - the referee for the USA vs Slovenia World Cup match. Still a phantom call. Offsides? Foul? Blown call.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FypvGUSlD8A

Carlos Zambrano - For yet another catastrophic freakout, this time occurring in the Cubs’ dugout during the Cubs/White Sox game this past Friday. Zambrano signed a 5-year, $91.5 million contract extension with the Cubs in 2007 and has done more to ruin the Cubs than to help them win. Apparently Zambrano freaked out on his teammates for not making plays behind him…it’s one thing to question lack of effort, but completely another to publicly lash out as egregiously as Zambrano did for something that should’ve been discussed behind closed doors (if at all).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtube_gdata&v=uzNQkmpo2g4

FIFA - For their many blunders during the 2010 World Cup, most notably the horrible refereeing…disallowed goals, blown offsides (non) calls, eager yellow/red carding. Amongst all of this FIFA has refused to comment on many of these bad calls and still haven’t adopted at least some form of video replay despite every other major sport utilizing the available technology. Oh and they were d-bag enough to forcefully remove the blown call by Koman Coulibaly against the US from YouTube.

The D-List: 2010 June Week 5

“Bro-Icing” - I was made aware of this disturbing trend on a trip to KC this weekend. Apparently it has been sweeping the nation, particularly affecting trendy bars in middle-class suburban areas. Having witnessed no less than 3 “icings”, I would have to say it is definitely d-case worthy. The following article gives a good summary.

Portland Trailblazers – for firing their GM Kevin Pritchard an hour before last week’s NBA draft, and then asking him to finish out the night as the team’s GM.

Vince Young - for being cited in Dallas for assault at a strip club. Supposedly the victim that Young attacked insulted his alma mater the University of Texas.

5 Hotel Workers in South Africa - adding insult to England’s poor performance in the World Cup, 5 hotel staff members stole many personal items from the English club. Stolen items include soccer shirts, a medal and an English player's underwear. Perhaps these 5 have been punished enough, however, as a special World Cup court convicted the hotel workers sentencing them to 3 years in prison and an $800 fine.

Michael Vick - For finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong story yet again. Early last Friday morning there was a shooting outside the restaurant where Vick had celebrated his birthday party that night. The shooting victim was Quanis Phillips, one of Vick’s codefendants in the federal dog-fighting case. Vick’s story following the incident was that he was long gone from the scene at the time of the shooting, but apparently there’s video that suggests otherwise. On top of that, during the party Vick’s fiancé was insulted and allegedly had her hand slapped away in the cake line by Quanis (the victim). In addition, one of the stipulations in Vick’s probation with the NFL is to not associate with anyone from his dog-fighting days and Quanis certainly falls under that category…oops.

D-Case of the Week, June Wk 4: France Football

I’m not sure who is to blame and/or who is the biggest d-bag in all of this, but it sure is fun to watch…the expulsion of a player, arguments, refusal to practice, resignations, failure to advance from pool play, and now the trickle down all the way to French society.
